Twin propeller time-dependent scouring processes. Physical experiments

We present a new set of experiments in local scour due to confined twin propeller jets aiming include driving characteristics the analysis scouring action during in-port manoeuvres. The maximum depth is studied as function bed clearance, wall clearance and efflux velocity jet. Aiming reproduce more realistic manoeuvres, both forward backward rotation propellers are analysed showing different behaviour. obtained results used propose two empirical models, one for each regime rotation. A non-dimensional parameter from Buckingham π analysis, proposed Froude number, find clear threshold triggering mechanism. experimental show that distance vertical main contributor higher depths rather than speed or clearance.
